Simon Akeroyd has written over 25 horticultural books on a range of gardening topics including pruning, fruit and vegetable growing, allotments, composting and lawns. In addition he regularly writes articles for national gardening magazines and newspapers. He is also a member of the Garden Media Guild.
He was previously a Garden Manager for the National Trust and a former RHS Garden Manager working at RHS Garden Harlow Carr in North Yorkshire. Prior to that he worked as a manager at RHS Garden Wisley for seven years.
He worked for a few years for the BBC as a horticultural researcher and then producer working on various projects such as the RHS Chelsea flower show, Gardeners’ World and Hampton Court. He was trained as a BBC journalist and writer and went on to work on lifestyle topics such as food, motoring, holidays and homes.
Apart from gardening he is also a keen beekeeper.
